Title:Purchasing Clerk; Part Time
Location:150 Magnolia Ave., Daytona Beach, FL
Salary Range: $10.99/hr - $12.43/hr DOE
Working Hours: 25 hours week; Mon-Fri; 9am-2pm

This position is directly responsible for purchasing products, and the receipt of such products, to the SMA programs at the various site locations throughout Volusia, Flagler, St. Johns and Putnam Counties. The duties involve verifying orders, obtaining bids to ensure best pricing, placing orders, coding requests to appropriate accounts and reconciliation of invoices with the accounts payable department. This position will also be responsible for other procurements including conferences and travel. Will perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.


High School Diploma required; preference given to individuals with experience in service related industries.
  • Good working knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures
  • Show competence in the purchasing process from obtaining best possible pricing to timely delivery to our customers and staff
  • Possess ability to coordinate and to relate with external vendors and also the employees of the Center
  • Knowledge of Excel spreadsheet and Microsoft Word processes
  • Ability to maintain files on vendors for purchasing goods and services
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, other employees and the public
  • Ability to use internet for online ordering, price quotes and vendor comparisons
  • Effective communication skills using telephone and email

  • Receive, approve and process purchase requisitions according to policy
  • Review documentation for proper authorizations, support and department (Reporting Unit) designations
  • Research vendors for best quality, pricing and service
  • Process purchase order with vendor and maintain records of goods ordered and received
  • Follow-up with requestor regarding receipt of orders, handle any problems which may result in non-delivery or back orders, or incorrect / incomplete orders.
  • Ensure ordered items are received by appropriate programs
  • Administer on-line purchasing systems
  • Make travel arrangements for approved SMA activities
